Petra by boat 1day from Sharm El Sheikh

Enjoy a trip to Petra to see one of the great signs of the ancient Nabatean Civilization, the Roman Theater, the Rainbow Tombs, and the Canyon!

You will be picked up from your hotel in Sharm el Sheikh and travel to Taba Heights Marina. Along the way, we will stop in Dahab, Nuweba, and Taba to collect other people. Once you get to the marina, you will meat your guide and be assisted onto the boat. Once you get to Jordan, you will drive with your guide to Petra in an air conditioned van to begin the tour.

Sharm El Sheikh to Petra trip will start on foot where we will walk through the Canyon or the Siq. This trail is a narrow winding gorge that is over 1 km  long. These sandstone formations that you will see were once occupied by the Edomites. One of the many reasons that Petra was such a great site for the Nabateans is that it was hidden behind a defensive canyon which is known as the Siq.

Visit Al Khazneh or The Great Treasury of the Pharaoh
As you come to the end of this great canyon, a very narrow opening offers a peephole to one of the most grand sites in Petra – the treasury. Carved out of the side of the sandstone mountain face in the first century BC, scholars debate as to its actual function.

The Roman theater & the Royal tombs
After the visit to the treasury we will visit the Roman theater which dates back to Byzantine era & the Royal tombs. Not much is known about the ancient culture of the Nabateans, except that they were great engineers with amazing skill and craft. They built water conservation and irrigation systems and carved their homes, temples, and tombs right out of the rocks.

Lunch

Visit the Al Habis Fort
Afterward, we continue our tour to the hill of Al-Habis fort which dates back to crusaders times. This fort has a breathtaking view of gullies and beautiful rock formations.

Back to Sharm-el-Sheikh
We will travel back to Aqaba where you will have free time for shopping if you chose. Then we will make our way back to the marina for the boat back to Taba. Once across the border and back in Egypt we will make our way back to Sharm and you will be driven back to your hotel.
